My Journey Making Vitalis Laboratories

How it Started:

This game didn't start as a horror, nor did i know what i wanted to do for my game. I simply knew that I wanted to make a game for years, and this was finally my chance to do so. Most developers choose to make a 2d side-scroller, or something like Snake as their first game, but I chose the high road, and went for a first person horror game. Was this and will this be easy, no, but I'm constantly learning and this game will get better and better over the years.

Inspiration:

My inspiration for this project, was surprisingly The Stanley parable. That's surprising because the Stanley parable is in no way a horror. My inspiration mostly came from the art style and mysteriousness of the game. I started out wanting my game to be like it, but I after more and more months of working on the game, chose to go another route with things.

Solo-Development:

I'm a solo developer, so every script, event, decision, and 60% of assets were created by me. It took months of late nights, rewrites, and self-doubt — but I kept going. I chose to be a solo developer, because I personally work better alone, and the idea of different ideas clashing, was just not something i wanted to deal with. Of course, as a developer i take feedback, but not complete rewrites, unless i feel that it is needed.

The Game:

Finally for the game. Vitalis Laboratories is a First Person Psychological Horror Experience, that is set in a medical research facility that poses as innocent, but in reality they are very sinister, and do evil work behind closed doors. You, the character, can either choose to obey the companies orders, or rebel, and stop them. Both routes are 90% unique, with some moments coinciding with the other route. As of the release of this dev-log the game is not fully finished, meaning that if you play the game within 1-2 months of this post, only the obedience route will be finished.

Your Support:

With YOUR support, I can finish everything care-free, without the worry of funding or external factors. Even if you do not tip, just purchasing my game for $1 is support and can help me with development. Thanks to everyone who supports.

Anyone who does support should also leave a review/rating so i can see if there are any needed updates. Thank you.
